The official opening for
Kaikorai Primary School’s new gate was combined with an Anzac Day service yesterday.
Marble tablets commemorating past pupils who lost their lives in the world wars had been shifted from the
nearly unused in Tyne St to the Wright St entrance, which 95% of pupils passed through daily.
Pupils, teachers and about 40 guests attended the gate opening and Anzac service which included poems, music and laying of wreaths by the children.
Senior and junior pupilsĀ
Brandon Hale arid Ella Samson assisted former pupil and returned serviceman Arthur Wells to cut the ribbon.
Mr Wells knew several of the men whose names were on the memorial tablets and was pleased they had been moved to a more visible part of the school.
